Day 1: Arrival in Lima. Transfers in to a boutique hostal Mami Panchita in the quiet barrio of San Miguel close to the Pacific cliff coast.

Day 2: Travel in the morning from Lima to the south. We have lunch at the fishers village Paracas (or take sandwiches with us from Lima for a picknick in the NP Paracas and have more time in nature).

"Only compliments for our tourleader Marcel. What an energy, what an expertise and always good humoured, with interest in the travelers and full of tips and stories..."

In the midday, we make a walk along the impressive cliffs & coast of the desert of Paracas peninsula. It is a short walk of 2 hrs where we walk along cliffs, climb a hill and visit the sea.

Hotel in Pisco, San Jorge Residencial

Day 3: Excursion in the early morning by boat to the Ballestas Islands to visit the large populations of seabirds, we also might see some penguins and sea lions. From here we continue to Ica, where we have lunch at an oasis in the desert and after lunch go with buggies for an adventure ride in the desert (people can also walk of course the immense sand dunes uphill but that is not that easy, or just stroll around the oasis). The tour with the is a real adrenaline desert tour and part of the fun is for those who like to go down the dunes by sandboarding. We will go down 3 sand dunes and every time a bit longer and steeper.

In the afternoon, we arrive on the plains of Nazca and have our first view & meeting with the Nazca lines at the tower of Maria Reich.

Hotel in Nazca, Don Agucho

Day 4: Full Nazca day. The flight (optional excursion) over the Nazca lines usually falls in the in the morning depending on weather conditions and planning with the flight coordinator.

The usual tourist program is that before or after the flight we will have an excursion around Nazca to a pre-Colombian cemetery, visit a viewpoint of some of the geometrical abstract figures, visit the intriguing pre-Columbian water canals with a walk through the valley, and we visit a Nazca pottery & gold extraction factory.

"Marcel is the best tourleader I have met in my last 20 grouptravels!"

Day 5: Transfer along the desert coast & cliffs until lunch. After lunch we start climbing from the arid coast to the sierras of Arequipa in the Andes at about 2400m altitude. We make several stops in the middle of the desert to connect to nature and say goodbye to the Pacific Ocean at the beach.

Hotel Selina – ex Casa de mi Abuela

Day 6:  Free day on own to visit the colonial city of Arequipa, to just to take a break or have a sharing in the beautiful garden of the hotel, to enjoy life on one of the most beautiful Plazas de las Armas of Latin America, visit a museum, a market, churches and the famous cloister Santa Catalina.

Day 7: Transfer from Arequipa to Chivay, all with our own bus. We will have spectacular views on snow-white topped volcanoes sometimes erupting with high plumes of volcanic ash and steam. We cross a pass of 4800m altitude & feel the energy of the Andean Altiplano and volcanoes. We will have a great Andean lunch in Chivay the capital of the Colca canyon at 3635 m altitude.

After lunch we continue through the Colca canyon towards the small Indian village of Cabanaconde at a lower level at 3287m altitude. By staying here the coming 2 nights we favour the adaptation to higher altitudes stepwise. On the way to Cabanaconde we make a stop at Cruz del Condor, sometimes condors are returning home or are still flying around. It will be very quiet here now as all tourists have left and we can connect to the mountains and Colca canyon (or as it was called in past times the Valley of Fire). Other birds can be spotted sometimes as the giant kolibri or eagles as well. After this stop we continue to Cabanaconde where we stay in a very special small boutique hotel. We stay for 2 nights in the village of Cabanaconde.

All the hikes in the Colca canyon will be with a local mountain guide of Arequipa traveling all the time with us during these days and an international certified tourleader / mountain guide. The guides usually alternate, one walks in the front and one in the back. At Cabanaconde & Chivay there are primary aid posts and doctors available with specialized knowledge of altitude sickness. Oxygen is always available in our bus and hotels.

Hotel Kunturwasi, Cabanaconde.

"Our guide was a topper with a lot of expertise. Very dedicated and committed. Sympatic and besides all of that as well an excellent mountainguide"

Day 8: Visit to Cruz del Condor in the morning. We are relatively close to the Cruz del Condor so we do not have to leave very early. When the weather is fine with the sun shining on the mountains there are strong thermic winds which make the condors leave their nests and fly out of the canyon. A spectacular view can be seen that can take 2 to 3 hrs. When the condors have reached higher altitudes we start with our daywalk over small trails of 5-6 hours to our hotel in Cabanaconde. This trail is unique and only used by us. Almost all tourists return this day in high speed back to Arequipa on their 2 day package. We will have a picknick with superb views in the countryside, on a platform of the edge of the Colca canyon. This program is a unique opportunity to see and experience much more at the Colca canyon.

Day 9: Today we go to Chivay. We make a stop again at Cruz del Condor, make a stop at Maca, eventually make a walk from Maca to Lari, visit the beautiful colonial churches in Maca & Lari. Check in at hotel in center of Chivay.

Hotel Chivay, Colca Inn

To the thermal baths of Chivay eventually or tomorrow before dinner to loosen up a bit the muscles and enjoy the first stars and planets we can see in the warm water.

Day 10: Today we have a long hiking day from Coparaque (leaving with our bus for a short ride from Chivay), the former Inca capital of the Valley of Fire through Ichupampa further downwards the canyon, where we cross the river at the end of the day and are picked up by the bus. Picknick in the open field. When the volcano Sabancaya is active we will see plumes of volcanic ash regularly blown into the air along our walking trail (this is all far away). For those who prefer not to hike more or can not hike a full day they can take a local taxi from Ichupampa back to Chivay.

After this long hiking day we go to the thermal baths of Chivay before dinner to loosen up a bit the muscles and enjoy the first stars and planets we can see in the warm water.

"Marcel is a top tourguide, energetic and always cheerful. He has a large knowledge of the country, people, landscape and culture and likes to share this with the group on a pleasant way. He is interested in his group members and the people we came across along the way. He thinks always ahead and anticipates on changes or setbacks. And for those that wish to have a day free on their own, he always has tailormade tips for everyone"

Day 11: Today we have a relaxed daywalk through the volcanic landscape and walk from an authentic Indian village Canacota up to a platform with great views into the canyon. From here we continue through a relative unknown part of the Colca canyon over a pre-inca path. We can take a long break near beautiful carved rock formations and take a swim in the cold river where thermal water is surfacing or collect some nice small volcanic polished rocks. After the walk of about 5-6 hours including breaks, we return to our accommodation in Chivay. This walk is given by most people who did the all these walks as the most beautiful.

Day 12: Today we travel from Chivay to Puno. By now we are well acclimatized after several days in the narrow Colca canyon and stop at several points at and near the highest pass of 4800 m for a small walk in the immense landscape to feel the fresh air & pure energy of the high surrounding volcanoes. This pass is called the Mirador de los Volcanes. In the midday we arrive in Puno (3827 m altitude), have some time for shopping and from where we will make the next days a unique 2-day excursion on the Titicaca lake.

Hotel Casona Plaza

Day 13:  We start with a visit of the Indian fertility temple and church in the village Chucuito. After this visit we continue to the south peninsula rounding the bay of Puno with the Aymara agriculture. From here we hike up a high hill to a Pachamama temple (for those who prefer not to hike the bus brings you to the harbour where we all meet) from where we have spectacular views over the Titicaca lake and walk downwards again over small shephard paths to the harbour where our boat is waiting for us. From here we have a local motorboat used for all transfers on the Titicaca lake towards Taquile island.

We go onshore on a not much visited part of the island close to the lighthouse. For those who wish to swim at this altitude it is possible to take a dive in the water from the beach here. From here we start climbing gently and walk along the island to the other side where is the main village – community. We will arrive here at the end of the day and stay at several families scattered around the lodge of our main family or if possible all stay together in one family house. We will dinner altogether here.

Day 14: The next day we are awakened by the sunrise over the snow topped Andes mountains in Bolivia far in the horizon. After breakfast we will have a demonstration of the family of their knitting skills and local handicraft they have made. After this sharing we walk to the Pachamama temple at the top of the island over pre-Inca paths with magnificent vews over Titicaca lake, the bay of Puno and the neighbouring island Amantani. From here we descend to the main harbour where we are picked up by our boat again. From here we move on to a restaurant on the other peninsula with Quecha culture and from here after lunch we continue by boat to visit in the afternoon a somewhat isolated community of the Uros floating islands. These communities have moved out of the main tourist zone for living a more authentic life near the reed fields as their parents and grandparents always did. Return late afternoon to the harbour of Puno and stay overnight in same hotel in Puno.

Day 15: A traveling day from Puno to Cusco with our own local bus. We will make several cultural excursions along the way. We may visit the tombs of Sillustani, visit a local hacienda to see the life of the local farmers and very special have a long break at the Inca pilgrimage site the temple of Viracocha at Raqchi. In the early evening we arrive in Cusco and settle down in our hotel in the colonial quarter of San Blas.
